MPPPA - News updated about Swine Influenza.

Can you please put this link to the NSW DPI website on your website. It takes the user to information on swine flu and how to prevent its occurrence in pigs. Swine influenza is considered and exotic pig disease in Australia and we need to make every effort to keep our pigs disease free.

The events of today where it may have been demonstrated that the virus can move from humans to pigs confirms that our advice is correct.

Note the Mexican worker was with his pigs within 2 days of returning from Mexico.

If any signs of influenza are seen in any of our pet pigs, the local veterinarian must be informed. Do not go to the vet.

In response to the swine influenza outbreak in North America I think we should advise all our farmers that people with signs of influenza should not visit or have contact with pig farms, especially visitors from North America
